One fall day, the Director of AGI bestowed upon the Creative Director a mission… “I want you to create a Christmas card using photography!” And so begins the story of Boxy the Snowman, one that is sure to make you melt!
As with most good missions, this one began with the Studio, Creative and Photography Director sequestered in the conference room. The objectives were defined… ideas were proposed… sketches were drawn… arguing ensued. Snowy pine trees, little winter houses, ribbon tied packages. Whatever could we do? How about a scene in 3-D, maybe a snowman? That’s it! Build a snowman out of boxes! We all agreed, we’d found our concept; Boxy the Snowman was born!
Our starting point was determining just the right proportions for Boxy. We built boxes of all sizes out of paper until we found just the right physique. One that would make the snowwomen melt! While AGI’s Art Director created tight box mockups for the body, our Creative Director worked out the basic design of Boxy’s other parts and pieces because all good snowmen need parts and pieces. Through lots of cutting and pasting, and more than a few paper cuts, each part of Boxy began to come together.
